Applications are invited for the post of Fellow in Clinical Leadership under the Darzi Fellowship Programme, open to specialty registrars ST3+, Nurses and ANPs band level 7/8a. The post will commence in September 2017 for one year.

The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop organisational and leadership skills necessary for their future roles as consultants and clinical leaders. Mentored by Dr Jugdeep Dhesi, Clinical Lead for Proactive Care of Older People undergoing Surgery (POPS) at GSTT, the fellow will work to evaluate the translation of an innovative peri-operative medicine service from a teaching hospital to a district general hospital.

The fellow will work with the POPS team to examine service transformation specifically; describe the process of translation and implementation of a new service by using QIP methodology, measure the impact of the new service on clinician, patient and process related outcomes, evaluate an innovative education and training programme utilising survey methodology and semi- structured interviews.

This project will be completed with a formal (university recognised) programme of learning with other fellows commissioned by the London Leadership Academy, the local Delivery Partnership of the NHS Leadership Academy, and which will include taught elements, support through action learning sets and opportunities for coaching and mentoring. Collaborative working and knowledge sharing is encouraged, a dedicated learning environment will be provided.

Post holders will continue to undertake a limited amount of clinical work commensurate with their level of experience. The Darzi fellow will be expected to work across DGT and GSTT sites, attend educational sessions and be jointly supervised by DGT and GSTT.

The Darzi Fellowship is counted as out of programme experience (OOPE). Applicants will need to concurrently apply to their training programme for a period of OOPE.
